The day after Christmas, tragedy struck our community when a fire tore through the wharf, destroying a building that had stood for a hundred years. My father and his coworkers, a group of proud and hardworking men, lost their entire shop and every tool they rely on to do their jobs. These are the tools that keep the wharf running, and without them, it’s impossible for these men to support their families and continue the work they love. Only a crowbar and a hammer survived the fire—one of which was spared simply because it wasn’t in the building at the time. Everything else, including snow blowers and thousands of dollars worth of equipment, was lost in the flames. The loss is not just financial, but deeply personal, as the shop was a place of pride and history for everyone who worked there. Wharf workers are the backbone of our community. They show up no matter what—through blizzards, disasters, and holidays, often missing precious time with their families to keep the wharf running for all of us. Now, in their time of need, I want to do something for them. With your help, we can replace the tools they lost and give them the chance to rebuild. Every donation, no matter the size, and even sharing this link, means the world to us. Thank you so much for your kindness and support during this difficult time. Your generosity will help these men get back on their feet and continue the work that keeps our community strong.
