Help Wezley Varty with his CASA case
Donation protected
CASA has made it official! Wezley Varty has now joined the ranks of esteemed FPV martyrs in the hall of fame, alongside individuals like Chad, Trappy, the daring drone-fishing enthusiast, and many others.
That’s right! The Civil Aviation Safety Authority, often referred to as CASA (or the "Australian FAA" by some), has at last dispatched their SIGNED LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY to Wez for his 100km ExpressLRS flight video on YouTube from earlier this year.
“I’m behind the times… what is this all about?”
Wezley Varty, a valued member of the FPV hobby space, has been an inspiration to many of us with his exceptional long-range flights and tireless efforts to push the boundaries of FPV technology. In early 2023, Wez shared his latest adventure on his YouTube channel, pushing ExpressLRS to an astonishing 100km range, which garnered significant interest within the FPV community.
It also captured the attention of an upstanding member of the community, who decided to submit it to CASA for official recognition :|
So nearly 8 months later (government departments work SLOWLY), CASA have finally made it official!
Entry into this hall of fame comes at a cost though, which is where the community can help!
“What does my donation support?”
Wez's case represents more than just an individual's struggle; it's a matter of innovation and freedom in the hobby we love so dearly. Wez's flight was not reckless; it was a demonstration of what's possible with FPV technology, and it sparked conversations about the future of long-range flights.
By contributing to this campaign, you're not just supporting Wez; you're defending the spirit of innovation and our hobby's core values. Losing Wez's contributions is a significant setback for the entire FPV community, affecting our ability to learn, innovate, and explore the skies responsibly.
“Will Wez go back to producing those sweet sweet long-range test videos after dealing with this?”
Unfortunately, as a result of these events, Wez's YouTube content production will come to an end regardless of the outcome of this campaign. CASA’s restrictions on the hobby have made it unreasonably difficult for him to continue creating the content that has been a goldmine of information and data for the hobby.
