Help Westin beat Osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma. Not exactly a diagnosis you expect to have as a 16 year old. Especially not for an active and thriving Junior at Waxahachie High School. Westin not only excels academically but also is an active member of the drama club, student council and the student news letter. So when he noticed knee pain 5 months ago he could only assume it was from being over active in his multiple extracurricular school activities. However, after seeing multiple providers with no answers his pain worsened. It became constant and ultimately caused him to go to the ER where an X-ray was completed. What could only be described as a complete shock to us all; Westin was then told that his X-ray appeared abnormal and there was a concern for cancer.
After multiple scans, labs and a bone biopsy, Westin now had an official cause for his knee pain. Osteosarcoma. He has been advised, to his horror, that he will be unable to attend high school for the next 9 months. He will need to endure weeks of chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment along with the eventuality of surgery scheduled for November. With a devoted family by his side, we know that Westin will not only beat this cancer but will thrive!
This teenager has big plans. Plans to make this world a better place. One of Westin's dreams is to attend the the University of Texas where he will major in political science and eventually move to Washington D.C. While anyone that knows Westin is aware that he will make his dreams a reality, we, as his friends and family, want to do everything we can to make sure that the financial burden of his upcoming battle with osteosarcoma is the last thing on the Whitford family's mind.
We are asking that you find it in your heart to give financially so that they can give Westin that best treatment there is to offer. This will allow them to continue to plan for Westin's future while not compromising on his original college goals due to financial hardship.
Westin will need his parent's by his side on a regular basis during this time. This will limit their ability to work as his chemo can make him very sick and require him to be potentially hospitalized for 2-6 days after treatment. We are praying that the money that is raised from this account will allow them to do this while also limiting their concerns of medical expenses.
From his devoted family and friends that have already contributed we want to thank you all!
