Help West Middle School Students Excel in Math

This is a GoFundMe to provide accounts to an online math program called IXL for my students.

Due to budget constraints, all math intervention programs have been cut from West Middle School and class sizes have increased dramatically. This makes it challenging to provide targeted intervention for each and every student based on where they are academically. IXL math is a program I piloted last year and I believe it was a key factor in the great results my students were able to achieve.

The benefit of using the IXL online program is that students can work in any grade level from Pre-K through Calculus. I can also select the specific skill the student is working on so that intervention supplements what is being taught in class. This means that students can receive remedial help in lower grade levels, on-grade level practice, or even instruction that is above grade level.

Due to budgetary constraints, the district cannot afford the IXL program and the cost is too much for a PTA grant. Therefore, I am offering a personal account for my students at the cost of $14.

If anyone is able to donate $28, then I would be able to provide classroom accounts to students who cannot afford the program. I have changed the overall goal to $1,950, which seems quite high, but it would ensure that every student I teach has individual access to the program for an entire year.

Parents would be able to use the program at home for additional practice or to practice more advanced skills. If there are other children at home, they would also be able to access the account to practice math. Normally, if a parent wants to buy this program for their child, the cost annually would be $79. Therefore, $14 is quite a bit of savings over the regular price.

A lot of parents ask me what is a way their child can progress in math above grade level standards, and I find IXL to be one of the best tools to do so.
