My name is Jason Shaw, and I’m raising funds for my father, Wesley Shaw, who is battling stage 5 renal failure. He’s always been a strong, giving man, but now he needs help. Any support, prayers, donations, or sharing means the world to us as we fight for his life.
If you know Wesley Shaw, you know the kind of man he is — one of those rare people who truly show up for others.
If you needed food, a ride, a place to stay, or just someone to talk to, he was there. No questions asked. No judgment. Just kindness.
He’s always been there for others and has never asked for anything in return.
Some time ago, while caring for one of his patients, Wesley suffered a stroke. The dedicated caregiver had suddenly become the one in need of care. Since then, his health has continued to decline.
On October 11, 2025 — his 53rd birthday — Wesley was rushed to the emergency room, where doctors discovered that he was in Stage 5 renal failure. About a week later, part of his right foot was amputated due to complications from diabetes. He is now on dialysis three days a week.
Wesley’s employer did not offer health insurance. He has since applied for insurance. However, the government shutdown has delayed his ability to access state-provided medical coverage, leaving him without insurance when he needs it most. Every dialysis session, prescription, and doctor’s visit is paid out of pocket — and dialysis alone has taken a tremendous emotional and financial toll.
Wesley is a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, a nurse, a deacon, and a giver through and through.
He was the primary breadwinner for our family, and now that he can no longer work, the burden has fallen on me. As someone in my 20s, I’m doing everything I can to care for my dad and my two younger brothers, who are 12 and 13, all while trying to keep up with my own job and responsibilities. I’m not only managing the household, but I’m also part of his care team — driving him to and from dialysis three days a week and making sure he has everything he needs to get through each day. The pressure is immense, and we’re just trying to survive day by day.
Even with all this going on, Wesley finds a way to smile and says, “God is good.” He tries to uplift others when they call to check on him. He’s quick with a joke to lighten heavy hearts and even quicker with a prayer when someone needs God’s love, comfort, or healing. His faith runs deep — he truly believes in the power of God and the power of prayer, not only to heal him, but to sustain him and those around him.
We know a lot is happening in the world right now — so many people are hurting and struggling. It can feel like a lot. But please, don’t overlook this request. Wesley has poured his heart into caring for everyone around him, and now he desperately needs that same love and compassion poured back into him.
Please, if you can give anything — no matter how small — it will help. Every dollar goes toward his medical care, dialysis treatments, household expenses, and keeping a roof over his head while he continues to fight for his life.
And if you can’t give right now, please share this campaign. Someone you know might be able to help.
This man has given everything he had to others. It’s our turn to give back — and he needs it now.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for anything you can do to help Wesley and his family.
