Hey Folks,

Some of you know him, some of you know his pictures, Wesley has been my best friend for almost 13 years now; he's been with me through thick and thin and has been my little kitty rock through some of the hardest times in my life, and now he needs my help and it could not have come at a worse time.

Back in July, he was diagnosed with diabetes, which is not uncommon in older cats. Unfortunately, through trying to manage this, we've had some difficulty which culminated with an ER visit this past week that has now turned into an extended hospitalization.

He has a history of chronic pancreatitis (we think, based on imaging) that has now turned acute and has resulted in some injury to his kidneys. The internal medicine team at Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital here in Kirkland is optimistic about his prognosis as long as his kidney values improve over the weekend -- we'll know more on Monday.

Unfortunately, also in August, Riot laid me off after 3 and a half years of working there. Tech is rough right now, and the video game industry is even worse off. I am back in school now to transition into a different career path that will be both more stable and more beneficial to the world, but it's left me in a bit of a weird spot.

His comfort and quality of life is foremost in my decision-making process here, and given how he is responding to treatment and how his clinical signs are (still eating like the vacuum he is, super bright and energetic, social as ever), we are going to continue treatment, hoping for the best. He is insured to a point, but we have already blown past his annual limit providing care the past few days.

Normally, I am the type of person who is extremely hesitant to ask for help, but care for Wes is going to get expensive and we could really use some assistance, so I'm asking my network of friends and family if they are able to help here. Anything you can do for him would be immensely appreciated.
