Help Wesley and Megan Through Tough Times

Hello, I'm Wesley, or Wes. I am a disabled veteran creating this account in hopes of being able to make ends meet until I can hopefully get an updated VA disability rating and my short-term disability kicks in.

There is just so much that has happened over the last few years, I can't even begin to explain the hardships my wife and I have lived through. We don't like to ask for help, but at this point, we have no choice. My wife is unable to find employment due to no fault of her own, and I was told to leave work because the amount of pain I am in made me a safety hazard at my job. After visiting a back specialist, I learned I have no reflex reaction in my left leg, nor do I have feeling in it, and my reflex reactions in my right leg are barely there. So, any type of physical labor is putting me at higher risk for permanent damage.

The only income we have is the disability I receive from the VA, which doesn't cover half the bills we have, nor does it put food on the table. We don't live a life of luxury. We live in a camper, and I just had to reseal the roof while trying not to fall off due to back spasms and pain. The refrigerator in our camper quit, so the groceries we had just bought the night before had to be thrown away because we live in South TX. Once the fridge quit, it didn't take long for it to get hot inside. To top it off, after that all happened, I was told to go home. No pay, no PTO, no vacation time, and I might not even be eligible for the short-term disability.

I called the VA to ask for help, and well, if you have ever dealt with the VA, you know how hit or miss they can be. I called on 5 or 6 separate occasions before finally getting information to help file for an expedited VA disability rating. I also got the name of a couple of food banks that are about an hour away from me. I really don't want to spend the fuel I have left in my tank, as I still have to attend in-person VA appointments even while not having the funds for fuel.

I am completely out of resources and I hate asking for help, especially from people I don't know. But I am begging, please, anything would mean so much just to help us not have so much stress while in this awful waiting period for my disability and short-term disability, which again aren't even guaranteed.
