Iam the Father Wesam Abu Sarhan i live in Belgium , my wife Somoud Abu Sarhan and children Watan and Zeina in Gaza, are reaching out for urgent help to save our family from the miserable situation in Gaza. Our campaign aims to secure their safe passage to Egypt as a first step, and the ultimate goal is to bring my family to Belgium to get proper medical care, and enroll children in schools To continue their education which has been suspended since last year. The war has taken a heavy toll on us, destroying our home and losing many of our relatives. Each contribution helps us cover evacuation costs, visa legal fees and educational opportunities, thus ensuring the safety of our family and its future prospects. Your support means a lot to us in these difficult times and provides hope and opportunity for a fresh start.
Story
My name is Wesam Abu Sarhan, and I am communicating with you from Belgium, where I feel safe but my family in Gaza is not. My heart is with them, with my daughters, who suffer from intestinal diseases. We never imagined that there would come a day when we would need to ask for your support through this GoFundMe campaign to bring our family to safety and provide them with a chance for a better future. However, the harsh and dangerous living conditions in Gaza have forced us into this situation in a way that exceeded all expectations. The funds raised will be crucial to cover border crossing, coordination and transportation fees and ensure a semblance of stability in Egypt during the first months.
After seven months of war, I realized that we needed more than one heart to endure all this destruction and more than a set of eyes to cry and grieve without restrictions. Since the war began, disasters have befallen us continuously and unabated. I am Somoud Abu Sarhan, 37, from the heart of Gaza, his hometown of Qarara. The past seven months have been a terrible journey. We were displaced 7 times. At the beginning of the war, we fled our homes in the Qarara area to Khan Yunis, in the center of the city, amid the sounds of shelling, bombs and destroyed houses. We walked to Khan Younis, al-Balad area, next to Nasser Hospital, seeking safe haven in clinics, Nasser Hospital and UNRWA schools. Our hopes were dashed when an airstrike on our home destroyed my cousins and injured more than 20 others. Miraculously, my family and I survived. Once again, we found ourselves trapped in another spiral of violence when the IDF decided to invade the city of Khan Yunis and besiege Nasser Hospital. We spent the nights, fear, hunger and thirst haunting us every moment, with the electricity cut off. In complete darkness, all you can hear is the sound of raids and the screams of people. Due to the loss of their relatives, the roads became surrounded by tanks, and the sound of gunfire was everywhere. We hid in silence, and our conversations turned into whispers and prayers amid the noise of war. Again, we were waiting to flee to Deir al-Balah, death was haunting us every minute, bodies were lying on the ground, and the smell of death emanated from everywhere. After several hours of walking we arrived at the farmland of our relatives who live there. After staying there for several days, the area was bombed and 7 of my relatives were martyred. We miraculously survived this bombardment. Life was written for us again. We now live in a refugee camp, and my daughters suffer from intestinal diseases due to contaminated food. What we eat, dehydration and malnutrition. I hope we get your support to help us cover the costs of safe evacuation from Gaza to Egypt.
Our Goals
Our direct goal is to secure the safety of our family in Egypt. We plan to go through the complicated process of securing visas for them to come to Belgium, where I can provide the care and support they desperately need. I work tirelessly to secure the visas and support needed to ensure they get the medical care they desperately need.
For my daughters, once they settle in Egypt, our goal is to get scholarships that will allow them to continue their education and rebuild their future.
