Help Wes Kowalczyk Recover From Massive Stroke
On November 17th 2019 Wieslaw (aka Wes) Kowalczyk and his family's life’s changed for the rest of their lives.
Wes at age 60 (turned 61 Nov. 21st 2019) suffered a massive stroke on the left side of his brain in the middle of the night at his house in Fraser Lake. He usually is on his own it was a miracle his son Orest had woken up to coldness in the house and put more wood in the wood stove (which heats the house) then heard a clapping noise coming from his fathers room. Curious on what the noise was he finds his father clapping with one hand on his chest and the other one smacking it to make some kind of noise to alert his son. Orest immediately calls 911 but from not knowing what time his father had started having the stroke when ambulance arrived 45mins later (due to them living in a small town) they were not able to give him the shot that is crucial to know exact time frame so they were not able to administrate it. From Fraser Lake, Wes was taken to Vanderhoof then to Prince George. While in Prince George Doctors and nurses had alerted Orest that it was a massive stroke, the swelling of the brain is worsening and he may not make it through. In a panic Orest called his mother Irena wife of Wes and sister Sheila daughter of Wes to let them know the devastating news. As well as Wes' 2 brothers and sister.
Wes was flown to VGH then sent to Surrey where he is currently. Wes is paralyzed on the right side of his body, cannot talk, write or walk. Before the stroke he loved being with family, friends and his dog Lola as well as being outdoors fishing, fixing up the house, listening to music and watching his favourite nascar race.
Due to Wes being paralyzed he is not able to sign crucial legal papers causing wife Irena to have to find a lawyer to legally appoint a power of attorney in front of court of law. These fees are not cheap and with Wes’s wife not being able to work at this time to take care of Wes she has been financially drained.
Irena is not aware of this page being made as she is too prideful to accept help but Sheila the daughter created this page to help her Mother Irena to get through this devastating situation.
The money raised will go directly
to Irena to help with finances and further recovery housing and therapy for Wes.
