Help Wero Get Urgent Neurological Treatment

Hi friends, family, and kind strangers, my name is Reyna and I’m raising funds for for my dog Wero’s neurological treatment. On Sunday August 24th, I came home to Wichin (Wero) laying on the grass unable to get up but raising his head to his right due to the neurological issues that he underwent, he was and still is paralyzed on the right side of his body. I grabbed him and drove alone to Tijuana talking to him the whole way. At first I thought he had a heat stroke but it is more likely a brain stroke. It was an emergency so I rushed him from LA to Tijuana in hopes of getting more affordable treatment for him.

I arrived at one of the only vets in TJ that were open at 11:00 pm, Hospital de Mascotas SAJI, and he has been staying there since Sunday. He has improved a little which is great news but an MRI is needed to rule out the exact cause of his condition and start treatment immediately. The cost of the MRI is 1,000$ USD or 20,000 pesos. I have already exhausted my account keeping in mind that I have rescue animals I have to care for back at home. So far I’ve spent a total of almost $1,400 and it just keeps adding up every night/day. 550$ USD the first night, 408$ the second night, and then every day is 1,800 pesos or about 100$ USD to keep him overnight. He has had an bunch of tests done including blood and hormones. He was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease and has been getting medicated for that and right now he’s being given a new medication after a consultation with the neurologist. Given his current situation, this could’ve been caused by many factors which is why I need to get him an MRI as I cannot afford him worsening if they give him the wrong medication (prednisolana.) I don’t have an exact amount of how much it will be in total for continued treatment but right now I’m focusing on raising the funds for the MRI ($1,000 USD) as I have to make a decision very soon. He has been improving over the last couple of days. He will need to stay for at least 72 hours more when they do the MRI and they start the specific treatment.

Every hour counts. I don’t want to lose him. I know to a lot of people he’s “just a dog,” but he’s not. He is my family and deserves the world. We still have many walkies and adventures pending and I want to give him the best fighting chance possible. Please help me save him. Please consider donating to his fund.
