Help My Mom Smile Again :)
Hi everyone,
I'm reaching out to ask for your support in helping my amazing mom, Wendy Seymour, get the urgent dental treatment she needs. Due to complications from medication used to treat her Multiple Sclerosis (MS), she now requires dental implants — and unfortunately, dentures are not an option because of significant jaw bone loss. Implants are her only chance at restoring her ability to eat, speak comfortably, and smile with confidence.
If you know my mom, you already know how much she’s endured with strength and grace. But for those who don’t, here’s a little bit about her journey:
My mom has been living with MS for nearly 20 years, alongside several other serious health conditions that have made everyday life incredibly challenging. Some of the most debilitating symptoms she deals with include:
- Chronic fatigue
- Vision problems
- Muscle weakness and stiffness
- Severe balance and coordination issues (she’s had multiple falls just this past year)
- Numbness and tingling, especially in her hands — she can no longer feel the tips of her fingers
- Bladder and bowel dysfunction
These symptoms have robbed her of so many everyday joys and made it difficult to participate in the kinds of fun, active moments that most people take for granted.
Over the years, she’s tried many treatments to manage her MS. Sadly, one of her recent medications caused a significant decline in her bone density, leading to a diagnosis of osteoporosis — a common complication in MS patients due to reduced mobility, chronic inflammation, and vitamin D deficiency.
Now, her teeth are loose and beyond saving. Multiple oral surgeons have confirmed that if she doesn’t get treatment soon, she may even need a bone graft from her hip to rebuild her jaw — making this already urgent procedure even more complex and expensive.
Despite everything, my mom continues to fight every day with incredible resilience and warmth. But without this treatment, she may spend the rest of her life unable to eat solid food, or smile without feeling self-conscious. She deserves better. She deserves to feel healthy, confident, and whole again.
