On September 16 at 5pm, my home was destroyed by a fire. Since then, I’ve been staying at my father’s trailer, trying to figure out the next steps while coping with the loss of everything I owned. I wasn’t alone in the house—I was living with and caring for Rick, who has dementia. The fire has made our situation especially difficult, as Rick relies on me for daily support and stability.

Right now, our most urgent needs are replacing essentials like clothes, underwear, shoes, and food. The fire took everything, and starting over is overwhelming. I’m doing my best to keep Rick comfortable and safe, but it’s a challenge without the basics we need. We’re in a state of limbo, waiting for the insurance company to help, but the process is slow and uncertain.
