Hello, my name is Wendy, and I run a small self-funded sanctuary dedicated to the care of two wonderful donkeys, Trouble and Tammy, along with a host of charming, rescued poultry companions.

Recently, our sanctuary faced a devastating challenge when Storm Amy ravaged the barn, tearing away portions of its roof and weakening the remaining panels. The frightening winds, which exceeded 80 mph, caused Trouble and Tammy to panic and attempt to jump over their stable door in fear.

The storm lasted for two relentless days and nights, leaving behind destruction that we are now struggling to overcome.

Tragically, the shed that was situated in the barn and which provided a safe, warm haven for Big Ed, a proud cockerel; Jet, our brave blind cockerel; Lavinia; Dotty; Lily; and Naughty Boy, the spirited guinea fowl, has suffered immense damage and had to be pulled down.

I found Jackson and Rutger, our other duck residents, seeking refuge behind a large round bale of hay along with the others, highlighting their distress.

Regrettably, I don’t have insurance for the barn, as insurers refused coverage due to the building's age. This places an additional burden on me to find a solution.

To restore safety and security to our much loved animals, I am seeking your support to fund the necessary repairs. The roofer we’ve consulted estimates the cost of repairs at £3,500.

With this funding, he will remove the damaged and weakened roof panels, replace any rain soaked and damaged joists. He will then install new, durable roofing to ensure the barn is secure and weatherproof.

As winter fast approaches, we are racing against the clock, especially as some forecasts predict snow in the coming weeks. Your generosity will directly contribute to creating a safe environment for Trouble, Tammy, and all their poultry friends.

This is how your generous contributions will be utilised to ensure a safe and secure roof:

1. Erecting sturdy scaffolding to facilitate the renovation
2. Dismantling damaged and loose roof panels
3. Replacing compromised joists to reinforce the structure
4. Procuring high-quality new roof panels and essential materials, including bolts and screws
5. Expertly installing the new roof panels to restore integrity and protect against the elements
6. Responsibly disposing of old, damaged panels in an environmentally friendly manner
7. Safely removing scaffolding upon project completion

I truly appreciate any help you can provide in bringing our small sanctuary back to its former glory.

Trouble, Tammy and the rest of the gang thank you for considering supporting our cause!
