Keep the love and support coming for Wendy!

Wendy has been courageously battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer since December 2021. She has endured a variety of treatments including chemotherapy, radiation, and infusions. In April 2022, her scans showed more activity and growth and her doctor suggested another round of chemotherapy. However, based on the effects of her last round of chemotherapy and how sick it made her, Wendy and her family have decided against going that route. Wendy is choosing quality of life over quantity and wants to ensure she feels her very best for as long as possible to enjoy her precious life with all of the wonderful people that surround her, especially her two beautiful daughters, Chayse & Mackenzie, and her amazing husband, Brian. Once she declined chemotherapy, she was switched to palliative care. While there are many holistic treatments that will enhance and sustain her life, none of them are covered by insurance. This includes Vitamin C infusions, visits with naturopathic oncologists, and numerous supplements which results in thousands of dollars of out of pocket expenses per month. I am sharing Wendy’s words from April, after she found out her cancer had continue to spread: “To me, a life is best spent lived and that’s just what I plan to do. I will LIVE. I will enjoy my family, my friends, my passions, hiking, traveling, soaking it all in!! I have a beautiful life, I have zero complaints, I feel better than I have in years, I’m finally doing the things I never allowed myself time for. I was always the last on the list. I never spoke up, I hung in the background afraid to be to “me.” Today I’m blessed. I’ve been given this gift to really embrace, really enjoy, really LIVE. I take nothing for granted. I tell my friends I love them. I meditate, I do yoga, I move my body, I pray. I am beyond lucky. Lucky!? “How can you say you’re lucky?” I’m lucky because this narrowed my focus, I see only what is important what is worth my time, my energy. I am surrounded by the people who lift me up who help me pray who make me laugh who cry when I cry. It’s so, so beautiful!! I’m lucky. I would not wish the same on anyone but I do believe we all get to where we are supposed to be and it was never in our control to begin with. The illusion of control is an intoxicating one. I was definitely someone who thought she was capable of controlling life, I’m happy to give control over to God.” Wendy, like many of us, is hesitant to ask for help. We were blessed with seeing her recently for coffee and asked that she allow her friends and family to help provide support. This is what has prompted setting up the GoFundMe to relieve some of the financial burden and stress off of her and her family and allow her to continue receiving her necessary medical care. Please consider supporting Wendy and her family through this difficult time. And, most important of all, please keep Wendy and her family in your thoughts and prayers!
