I don't think anyone was expecting the country of Bolivia to fall apart as quickly and completely as it has. Three weeks ago, we were doing fine and had a profitable airbnb business in the city of Copacabana. Now we have been completely cut off from the rest of the country due to street blockages and are having food and gas shortages. And we have lost all of our airbnb business since it's impossible for tourists to make it to our city because of the violence.

The streets of La Paz are filled with tear gas and dynamite and it's not safe to leave your house. In Copacabana, things are calmer. Our biggest concern is the fact that we are cut off from La Paz, which is where most food staples come from.
Having last a huge portion of our income is our biggest concern at the moment -- all of our airbnb reservations for this month have been cancelled. And even if things get back to normal, it will be some time before tourists return to Bolivia again. We're not quite sure how to survive financially for very long. Then there's the fact that food and gas prices are starting to soar.
If the violence and food shortages continue, we will consider leaving the country. Right now, the plan is to sit tight and hope that things improve, mostly because we own a home and business here. Any thing you could do to help out would be so greatly appreciated.
