Hey friends, family, frenemies, enemies, and internet strangers alike.
It's me, Wen.
2 Weeks ago my bike got stolen from right in front of my apartment in Palms, Los Angeles California.
Parked in a completely legal place, took me by surprise.
When I was living in Sherman Oaks and for almost an entire year at UCLA I never imagined nor considered a motorcycle being stolen from a residential neighborhood.
The whole reason I declined a really good Studio apartment deal in Koreatown was because the location looked... unsafe, to put it light, for a lightweight motorcycle like Blu was
Had just moved here from UCLA too! Big Sad.
After much discussion with close friends, I have decided to swallow my ego and pride and ask for help from those moved and or compelled to do so.
Linked above is the GoFundMe campaign to assist in acquiring a new motorcycle.
In return for donations, I will match each and every donation with equal musical service, royalty free, lifelong use, personalized tracks / song request / other audio services per donation.
During these trying times, Darth Orange Lord, COVID19, Domino's THINKING they can Out Pizza the Hut, anything is greatly appreciated!
Pre-Covid19 I used my motorcycle to travel from work to my job, from my home to Santa Monica Pier / Promenade to play music, recording sessions with the insanely amazing vocalist Alice An
and used it to make additional money as a Doordash Deliver Driver
(After all this time? Always.)
Whole reason I got a motorcycle is because I've been biking ever since I can walk and honestly does anyone get paid enough money to deal with traffic in LA? (Ok I lied, I still deal with traffic but it's nice to not HAVE to deal with traffic if I'm on a time clock...)
It is a fuel economy safe way to get around as a single male or female.
Currently in LA I work as a cashier for Kalbi's Grill | The Best Korean BBQ you will find outside of Koreatown | (Can honestly say the staff have become my family away from family in LA. LA would Not be possible without them.)
When not working at Kalbi's, you would find me busking in Santa Monica, or delivering food for Door Dash.
Keeping busy is the name of the game while.
This allows me ample time to work on my own music projects
(Which I promise you are sounding amazing! Taking a bit longer due to a hard drive failure and every aspect of this being D.I.Y thus far but I enjoy the challenge and, most importantly, freedom of my music answering Only to Me.)
Past 1 and a half in LA I've met the most amazing friend group at UCLA via the Game Music Ensemble, (ew, UCLA, right?), been blessed to have the most amazing 2 managers at my job and coworkers, and have been able to be super independent.
The on thing I never accounted for was a Motorcycle, of all things, getting yoinked.
2020 was looking pretty promising in terms of job prospects too!
Everything changed when the fir- Covid19 attacked though.
Then some things changed more when Blu got yoinked.
This post is long enough as is ~
If you read through to the end, thank you!
If you're a Viola player, go hug a puppy, you probably need more love in your life.
