UPDATE: Webster had his surgery yesterday and they found a second tumor. They were able to remove it and we are now waiting to hear back from pathology. Thanks everyone for your love and support.
Meet Webster — a gentle beagle who spent his entire life inside a lab, used for experimentation and denied the basic joys of being a dog. He was rescued by the incredible team at Cage to Couch, and we were lucky enough to adopt him late last year. For the first time in his life, Webster had a family who adored him.
Just as he began to settle into his new life, we received devastating news: Webster has cancer. He now needs surgery and follow-up treatment to give him a real chance at the happy, healthy life he’s only just begun to experience.
We are raising funds to cover Webster’s medical costs, which include surgery, diagnostics, and post-operative care. Any additional funds raised will be donated directly to Cage to Couch, so they can continue rescuing and rehabilitating lab beagles like Webster.
Why this matters:
Each year, tens of thousands of beagles are bred solely for laboratory use in the U.S. due to their docile nature. Most never know anything beyond cold cages and painful procedures. Cage to Couch gives them a second chance.
How you can help:
• Donate what you can — every dollar helps
• Share Webster’s story on social media
• Help us raise awareness about the inhumane treatment of lab animals
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with Webster — and with all the dogs still waiting for their freedom.
With love and hope,
Jennifer
