Support Beloved Spring Island Bartender Wayne Toon's Recovery

Dear Friends,

We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts and a plea for your support. One of our employees and beloved Spring Island bartender, Wayne Toon, was recently involved in a tragic car accident that has left him fighting for his life. His injuries will require long-term care and significant rehabilitation.

On April 14, Wayne was driving home from an evening shift on Spring Island when his car overturned. It took medical responders an hour to remove him from the wreckage before transporting him to Savannah Memorial Hospital. Wayne was in a medically induced coma for several days. While Wayne is no longer in a coma, he has yet to regain consciousness. Everyone is praying that as the swelling of his brain subsides, he will regain consciousness.

His mother, Heidi, and father, Brett (a JPGA instructor), have been by his side every minute, using up much of their leave time from work. His twin brother Alec has also been a constant presence.

For those who know Wayne, his infectious smile and warm personality are unforgettable. He puts his heart into his work, taking extra time to research new cocktail recipes, and was always eager to share his creations with a cheerful "Here, taste this!" Wayne had a gift for connecting with people, engaging everyone he met, and going above and beyond to put a smile on their faces. He was a ray of sunshine, a lovable goofball, someone you just wanted to be around.

Wayne's dedication extended beyond his role as a bartender. Family was incredibly important to him at home and among his work family. He forged genuine connections with Spring Island members and his colleagues, regardless of their position. In fact, the last photo he took before leaving his final shift was a selfie with a dishwasher, whom he had helped finish his tasks so they could both leave together.

We ask for your help in supporting Wayne and his family during this challenging time.
