You may have received the text that our dear friend Wayne sent this past weekend letting it be known that he would be sidelined until March. We’ve included a copy of that text below.

Wayne has done so much for so many providing a bright light for physical and emotional strength and discipline. Many of us work with Wayne at the Sonoma Golf Club where he has helped us gain strength and flexibility allowing us to continue to play, enjoy and improve our games. What many club members don’t see is the incredible admiration and respect that Wayne has earned from aspiring lifters both young and old. If you spend any time at the Fitness Factory, the classic strength gym in Sonoma, you'll see that Wayne is a living legend. People of all ages know that Wayne is a champion competitor and a dedicated student of his sport. More importantly he is never too busy to help young lifters who are looking for technical advice or encouragement.

Wayne has not asked for our help and is too proud and humble to do so. But it’s clear that he is facing a very difficult time. He has a second knee replacement in February with all the travel costs and other expenses that this will require. In addition, he is battling a cancer that requires on-going treatment and is drawing heavily from his physical, emotional and spiritual strength. It’s a very tough time for our friend and teacher.

We would like to help Wayne by easing his financial burden. Wayne will not be teaching at least until March and will be incurring numerous and significant expenses as he faces treatment for cancer and his second knee replacement. We are some of Wayne’s students and friends and will be making contributions to this Go-Fund-Me account. We hope that you can see it in your hearts to do the same. We haven’t established a financial target but hope that we can raise a meaningful amount, $35,000, or more. This will really help our friend when he needs our help the most. You can make your contributions either by name or anonymously if you prefer.

Finally, please pass this message on to anyone that might be interested in helping that hasn’t already heard about this fund.

“This Flu and cancer has nailed me down for weeks. I am going to remove my scheduling pressure by recovering and training. I will be on my own schedule in order to proceed with my next surgery on 2/4....hence I will resume in March....Mahalo for your support....I really need to take care of myself right now...and I feel really guilty for not taking care of others....but this has to happen....literally do or die.
