Wayne Hanson, our great friend and colleague for over 30 years, is battling a rare and aggressive form of pancreatic cancer
(Adenosquamous Carcinoma, or ASCP).
But the fight isn’t going well.
His chemotherapy hasn’t shrunk the tumour to a size that can be removed surgically, and his oncology team are all out of positive news.
Wayne has now chosen to undergo an urgent course of radiotherapy treatment that isn’t available on the NHS, at the Cromwell Hospital in London, starting on 17th September.
It’ll cost £38,575.
That’s £575 for the initial consultation. £5000 for the specialist oncologist’s planning and supervision fees. And £33,000 for 5 sessions of stereotactic radiotherapy.
This treatment, sadly, isn’t a cure. But it could be life prolonging. And as anyone whose life has been touched by Wayne will know, the inspirational positivity, irrepressible energy and irresistible Yorkshire charm that he carries everywhere with him, are things that we all want to share for as long as possible.
Wayne’s finances right now are dedicated to taking care of the future of his family and loved ones.
So, with Wayne’s blessing, we’re setting up this GoFundMe to help him meet the radiotherapy bills.
Please give whatever you can.
Thank you.
