Hi everyone, my name is Clarissa, and I’m starting a fundraiser for my parents as our family has recently been blindsided by a difficult health battle as they thought a year ago they caught all the Cancer but found out it quickly spread and they had to act quickly. We are hoping to surround them with the support they need to focus solely on healing.

Wayne underwent major throat surgery to treat cancer. While we are incredibly grateful the surgery is behind him, the road to recovery is long. He is currently unable to work and, given the intensity of the procedure, it will be a significant amount of time before we know if he can return to work, as this was life altering surgery.

My mother has been by his side day and night, stepping into the role of full-time caregiver to ensure he has the round-the-clock support he needs. However, as a seasonal worker in Canada whose EI has recently run out, she is now facing the task of managing household expenses and medical costs without an active income.

They are also in the middle of packing to move as their house sold by their landlord.

We are raising funds to help cover their essential living expenses—rent (which might end up being hotels), utilities (which could turn into a storage unit until they find a home), and groceries—as well as any out-of-pocket medical costs during this recovery period even if this helps with parking! Our goal is to help the financial stress so Wayne can focus on his physical rehabilitation and my mom can focus on being by his side. She still needs to eat and stay close by him as she is his sole caregiver until they navigate how his life will start to look after recovery.
