Meet 8-Year-Old Waylon Michaelson
Waylon is a wonderful, kind, energetic 8-year-old boy. He is the only child to Lisa and Chet Michaelson and loved deeply by his family and friends. Waylon’s life changed forever when he suffered an unprovoked, vicious attack by a pitbull. Life saving measures needed to be taken due to the severity of the injuries to his face and neck. Waylon lost a portion of his facial tissue and suffered from excruciating pain due to his tissue and muscle being pulled from his bones. Waylon was rushed by ambulance, intubated and endured 3 hours of emergency surgery at Children’s Hospital to repair his face and neck. The attack resulted in 7 extremely deep lacerations totaling more than 12” in length and more than 50 stitches internally and externally on his face and neck. He has been so brave throughout all of this dealing with infections and the painful series of rabies shots. Waylon has missed so much school and is struggling mentally and emotionally from the trauma and navigating things no child should ever have to deal with. His parents have been driving him to Children’s Hospital in St. Paul for therapy and many follow up appointments. As you can imagine the emotional rollercoaster this family has been on since this horrible accident happened. Both of Waylon’s parents work and have missed many days of work. They are hardworking loving parents. They have health insurance, but they have a high deductible along with many items not covered by insurance. At this time we are unsure of the amount of future surgeries and ongoing mental health needs he will have. Please consider keeping Waylon, Chet and Lisa in your daily prayers and if you can, please donate to help this family.
