Help Wauwatosa Curling Rebuild After Historic Flood

Tax deductible
Hello Friends & Family,

In just a few hours, the Menomonee River stole what took us decades to build.

It is with deep sadness that we share this update with our friends and family in both Tosa and the larger curling community. Our beloved lower-level clubroom, where generations of curlers celebrated victories, shared laughs, and built lifelong friendships, was filled to the ceiling with floodwater. The August 2025 floods didn’t just damage our building. They struck at the very heart of our club.

On August 10–11, 2025, historic flooding struck Wauwatosa’s Menomonee River Valley, where our club sits along the riverbank. The river surged into our club, destroying our lower-level clubroom, locker room, kitchen, and bar. Much of our large equipment storage area on the main level became part of the river itself, inundated with fast-moving water. We’ve already confirmed the loss of numerous pieces of curling equipment, with more likely as we continue our inventory.

We still don’t know the full extent of damage to our mechanical systems, including our compressor, due to the ongoing power outage. Power restoration could take weeks, possibly months. Mechanicals essential for accessibility, like our elevator, are also currently inoperable.

While damage to our main level icehouse is thankfully minimal, it still requires remediation, which is already underway. Trophies, memorabilia, and historical items will be salvaged wherever possible, but rebuilding will take significant resources and time.

This is not the first time our club has faced such hardship — in 1998, we endured a similar flood. Back then, we came back stronger, thanks to the generosity of the community. We know we can do it again — but we need your help.

How You Can Help

• Donate – Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us recover, replace equipment, and rebuild our lower-level facilities.

• In-Kind Support – If you are part of a curling club and can help with equipment or supplies, please contact us via www.curltosa.com.

• Spread the Word – Share this campaign with friends, family, and curling enthusiasts everywhere.

We all know that curling is more than a sport: it’s a community. The Wauwatosa Curling Club has been a home for curlers of all ages and abilities, and we are determined to welcome everyone back to the ice as quickly as possible. Any assistance is deeply appreciated through this GoFundMe (or directly via www.curltosa.com) as we begin to understand the full scope of our recovery.

Together, with your help, we will be back — stronger and better than ever.
