Help Water's Medical Bills

This is Water.

He's a little brat of a cat who just turned three in March. He was rescued in 2019 as a kitten by my partner. Since then, he has been wreaking havoc by being adorable and knowing it. He even has his own instagram.

Recently, Water started feeling not well. What seemed to be just a little fever started to get more serious, as he stopped bothering his brother, stopped sleeping on the bed, and eventually stopped eating altogether. He was taken to the emergency vet this past weekend for what we hoped would be a simple visit, but after his vitals were taken we received the devastating phone call that his red blood cells were extremely low, he was anemic, and he would have to be admitted and receive a blood transfusion.

After two stressful and emotional nights at the vet, Water was finally able to go home with his daddy. However, he isn't out of the woods. Even though he is eating again, his appetite is still very low, and he's lost quite a bit of weight. While his red blood cells haven't decreased and have remained stable, they also haven't increased, and he is still anemic. Leukemia and parasites have been ruled out, but the vets believe he is suffering from an autoimmune disease where his body is attacking his own cells, although they still aren't sure why this is happening just yet. He is currently on immunosuppressants and will need several more vet visits to monitor his status. Nevertheless, we are glad he is still here. We are taking things day by day and are cautiously optimistic.

As you can imagine, between his overnight stays at the hospital, the blood transfusion, the tests, bloodwork, and medication, Water has racked up quite the hospital bill. So far his dad has already paid $5000, and we anticipate that number to grow higher in the future. I set up this gofundme with the hope that it could help alleviate costs for my partner, especially since he is dealing with other financial burdens in his life. All of this happened so quickly, within the span of a week, and it's been heartbreaking to see a spunky, rambunctious, and opinionated cat who loves to bite toes under blankets, play in the window blinds, cuddle with his dad in the morning, and pick fights with his brother grow too weak to play, eat, or sleep in the same bed.
