Hello, we are the 1920 team, a group of 7 people split across 2 teams. We’re based out of Wasco, California and we compete in Vex Robotics. Vex Robotics has over 20,000 teams from more than 50 countries competing each year. Teams design, build, and program robots to solve complex engineering challenges, competing in matches that blend programming and driver-controlled gameplay. At the end of every season, the best teams in the world gather at the World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri. We are grateful to say that our teams, 1920D and 1920M are both qualified to go to Worlds. Including this year, our teams have qualified to Worlds 3 times in a row. We have won awards in almost every level of competition with one of our teams 1920M winning the Excellence award. The Excellence award is an award given to the most well rounded robot overall, that includes matches, interviews and notebook, it’s what got them into Worlds.
Despite all of this and the fact that we have gone twice before already, our school doesn’t have the funds required to let us go to Worlds. To compete we need flight tickets, money for hotels, money for registration fees, and money for quick robot fixes. This costs well into the range of 1-5 thousands dollars. This doesn’t even include extra costsThis money takes thousands of dollars, much of which our school can’t cover.
By supporting us, you are helping put Wasco in the spotlight at the biggest robotics competition in the world, and giving us the opportunity to compete with other amazing teams. Wasco is a small city and we do not get all the resources other teams around the world do, however we still try our hardest to win. No matter the size of donation, you help us get one step closer to the World Championships. By even sharing this GoFundMe, you’re letting the world see this. Our teams have done too much and been too successful to let budget or funding issues make us unable to represent our community.
Thank you, the 1920 teams.
