Help Wasabi Heal After Dog Attack

Wasabi’s journey began a year ago when I rescued him from a live trap as part of the NW Spay and Neuter trap and release program. The trap was stolen, but I later recovered it from a homeless man who was selling three-week-old, starving kittens. I bottle-fed Wasabi and his three brothers back to health, and they were lovingly raised by my elderly beagle, golden retriever, and Rottweiler mix. Wasabi grew up thinking he was a dog, always surrounded by his canine family.

Recently, my disabled uncle moved from Texas to Washington, bringing his shih tzu and bull terrier mix. On their first day here, the bull terrier attacked our golden retriever and was then muzzled. Despite the muzzle, he tried to attack our Rottweiler mix and three cats. Wasabi, ever the brave soul, snuck out and was tragically attacked by the bull terrier. I rushed him to BluePearl Pet Hospital in Lakewood, where he was stabilized. Thankfully, there’s no internal bleeding or broken bones, but his left back leg suffered over 30 puncture wounds and is now unresponsive. Sadly, it will need to be amputated in the future, and we’re facing significant vet bills.

Any help would mean the world to us. I’m also happy to give a bouquet of fresh flowers from my garden to anyone, just as a thank you for your kindness. Your support means so much to us and will help Wasabi heal and have the best chance at a happy, healthy life.
