Warren had a prenatal stroke which resulted in the destruction of his left hemisphere of his brain. His entire right side was impacted, leaving him partially paralyzed, visually impaired, and suffering with painful growth issues that have required numerous surgeries over the years. As Warren has grown to adulthood, his mobility has been impacted and he fights daily to overcome cognitive issues, learning disabilities, socio-emotional challenges, and mood disorders, all resulting from his brain injury. He has worked hard to be as independent as possible, but he requires physical and emotional support daily and help with daily tasks (such as dressing, showering, walking, cooking, etc.) In order to provide the support he requires and keep him safe and able to function in our home, we plan to build him a small studio apartment in our backyard with handicap accessible bathroom and living amenities. The stairs in our home and non-handicap bathroom have created safety issues for Warren and limit his ability to leave his room or independently care for his hygiene needs or make meals. With the current rise in cost for housing and building materials, this dream of creating his own safe but independent space has become unattainable for us financially. Warren is a permanently disabled adult who has been unable to earn very much income and we have 9 other children to help support. I lived as a single mom for many years and financially have been unable to create this dream space for Warren. Please help us make his dream come true so that we can keep him safe and happy in our home! We have been tremendously blessed to be surrounded by love and support, and are reaching out to those who could help in any way to bless our sweet Warren!
