On December 28th, a 5.2 earthquake struck central Croatia. Within 24 hours, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 devastated the war torn town of Petrinja and sent war survivors in traumatic shock.
Children have been pronounced dead and there are limited resources in the area. Citizens have lost connection to water, electricity, and gas. The loss of water and energy sets people in a distressed circumstance considering the harsh conditions of the winter in central Croatia during December.
In the midst of a pandemic, nearby hospitals are overwhelmed and severely damaged. The army and Red Cross are now doing what they can to provide temporary shelter and emergency services.
The funds will go to my grandmother, Mira, who was pulled out of the rubble of her own home.
