My name is Teresa, and this is my sweet girl, Memphis. She’s only two years old, but she has already filled my life — and the life of my other dog, Monster — with more joy than I could have imagined.

Memphis is the kind of dog who greets every person and pup with a wagging tail and bright eyes. She loves to play, run, and be right by my side. But lately, those simple joys have been taken from her.

Memphis has a small piece of broken bone in her elbow. Every time she tries to play like the happy, young dog she is, it leaves her in pain, limping and sore for days. The only way to give her back her pain-free life is surgery, which costs $6,000. On my fixed income, that’s an amount I simply can’t cover alone, no matter how much I wish I could.

She means everything to me… and to Monster, my older dog. Before Memphis, Monster was quiet and withdrawn, spending most days lying around waiting, due to a lot of loss in our family. But when Memphis came into our lives, Monster came alive again — she plays, she wags, she smiles. These two are inseparable. She may be a rescue, but the truth is she rescued all of us.

It breaks my heart to see Memphis sitting on the sidelines while her friends play, or watching Monster run while she has to rest. She’s so young, and she has her whole life ahead of her — a life she should be able to live without pain.
