Help Wanda beat cancer again!
Beschermde donatie
Hi, my name is Marc and this wonderful woman is my wife, the love of my life, and my rock. We've been married for 36 years. She's a mom to 2 great kids (and many adopted shop kids that she loves just as much)! In late 2019 Wanda was diagnosed with colon cancer. She went through many rounds of chemo and radiation, surgery, and then more chemo. She beat the cancer. She won. While fighting it she became a grandma to a beautiful baby girl. It was a long hard battle and she won it. Time with her granddaughter made her fight even harder. She has been getting regular re-scans and scopes and was getting "all clear" results. But something just never felt right to her. But the all clears kept her spirits up. We lived to hear those results every 6 months. In 2022 they extended her scans to yearly. She had a scan in June 2023 and again was told "all clear". But she was having more and more pain and concerns. She was repeatedly told she was fine. Her gastro doctor at that time said "you're fine, but feel free to get a second opinion". So She did.
After months of having other doctors tell her they didn't want to take her case or they didn't take our insurance, Nov 2023 she found a new gastro doctor who thankfully took her case (and insurance) and with the help of her previous oncologist and a new surgeon they got her in for a series of tests. Her fears were confirmed. The cancer was back. We then received the gut punch that it had also now spread to her liver and lungs. After fighting back the tears and anger at being brushed off for so long she put her fight face back on and has started her new battle. She is strong. She will fight with everything she has. Her family, friends, and I will be there by her side doing everything we can to help. But we need your help.
We have insurance, but we are self employed so it's not good insurance. (Is there actually "good" insurance any more?) Deductibles are high. Co-pays are high. Premiums are high. We have not been able to change insurance as she is now considered a financial risk and other insurance companies either wont qualify her or want astronomical rates. So we have stayed with what we can. All the treatments in 2019/2020 were very expensive and insurance doesn't cover much so we had to put payment plans in place. We finally paid the repayment plan off in Nov 2023. She was re-diagnosed in Dec 2023. So all the tests and such right at the end of the year ran all the deductibles and co-pays up and then reset January 2024. So double whammy. We're already back on a repayment plan, and it's already racking up. Did you know that normal colonoscopies for wellness checks are only $200 out of pocket co-pay with insurance like ours, but if you have cancer and need them for diagnosis and treatment they charge you $2000?
I want to do everything I can to take as much stress as possible out of this battle for her. The last battle drained all savings. I mentioned doing this campaign and she was resistant. She is the first person to sign up and contribute to any fundraiser and charity event that calls her heart, but when it's her that could use the help, she doesn't want to ask, so I'm doing it for her. It's hard enough seeing her pain with the cancer and treatments. I can't watch her cry every time they hit us with big fees every little step of the way. We will see her win this battle. This is where you can help. I set this up to just to cover her deductibles and some of the co-pays and fees for 2024. There is no way to know the true costs of treatment or how long it may take. She's already scheduled for 2 surgeries before February and many months of chemo treatments.
She's the kindest person I know and the world is a little brighter with her in it. I need her here. Her family and friends need her here. Her granddaughter needs her here. If you can help, it will mean the world to us. Even sharing this campaign would be a big help. Thank you! Much love from our family!
