4/16/24 Update:

The Service Pro disaster team says that the cleanup process will be extensive, as in it taking 2-3 months to complete, and the family cannot stay in the home during the restoration. *Everything* will need to be removed from the home (every last item down to the last fork and literally the kitchen sink will need to be removed) due to fire damage, or smoke damage, or the remaining toxic soot. Whatever items cannot be cleaned will be thrown away.

Since the cleanup will take several months, Service Pro has recommended that her insurance company put the Walters family in a rental home instead of staying in the hotel. So, they will probably remain in the hotel for another week until that is all sorted.

Thank you for the offers to assist in the clean-up, but due to the considerable/large-scale damage, it will take a professional company to handle.

Dear Friends,

I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of Melinda and Bubba Walters. On Saturday, April 13th, the Walters family home suffered a fire that destroyed their kitchen and caused extensive smoke damage throughout the house. The fire, which broke out while Melinda was cooking dinner, has left the Walters family temporarily living in a hotel for three nights) and urgently needing assistance. They and their six children (including a three-month-old) are grateful to be alive. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident, a true miracle! However, now they face the challenging task of repairing their home as they grapple with the shock and devastation of this situation.

Fortunately, they will be able to file a claim with their insurance compan, but the estimated deductable, that will need to be paid immediately, will cost around $5,000. All funds will be provided to Melinda Walters and her sweet family to assist them financially while they navigate during this difficult time. Melinda is a cherished member of our Catholic community, so please consider donating what you can to this cause.
