Help Walt Recover from Emergency Surgery
Donation protected

Hi everyone,
My name is Natalie, and I’m reaching out for help after a whirlwind week with my beloved beagle, Walt. Walt has always been a curious, mischievous little guy. When I met Walt, I was driving down I-26 and he was busy checking out traffic conditions on the road, which was extremely dangerous. So, I stopped the car, scooped him up, and the rest is history. A few days ago, his curiosity led him into some serious trouble. Walt swallowed 2 socks (yes, 2 socks!) and it quickly turned into a life-threatening situation.
After noticing he wasn’t his usual playful self, I rushed him to the Veterinary Emergency Group in Mount Pleasant, SC, where they discovered one sock lodged in his intestines. One sock he was able to throw up, but who knows how long it had been in there. The only option to save him was emergency surgery. Thankfully, the skilled and compassionate team at VEG was able to perform the surgery in time, and Walt is now recovering, but we still have a ways to go. The sock that was lodged in the intestines did a significant amount of damage, making part of the intestine turn purple.
The cost of the surgery and hospitalization is up to $8,000. I’m doing everything I can to cover these expenses, but it’s a significant financial burden. If you know me, you know I’m now the biggest advocate of pet insurance—something I wish I’d had before this happened! Until then, I’m leaning on the generosity of friends, family, and animal lovers to help Walt on his road to recovery.
If you can spare any amount, I would be forever grateful. Walt is more than a pet; he’s family, and every little bit will go toward covering his surgery and aftercare. I will donate any amount raised above his expenses to VEG to support the amazing work they do in taking care of pets and their people.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
With love and gratitude,
Natalie & Walt
