A HARD WORKING MAN WHO LOVES HIS FAMILY...

My husband, Wally, has always been the provider for our family and the one who helps others any chance he gets. Unfortunately, this year he’s the one in need of help.

We knew Wally would need heart surgery, but we were told we had six months to prepare. At our next appointment, we were told it was an emergency and had to be done immediately. There was no time to save. Earlier this year, Wally also spent two weeks in the ICU when his lungs were failing, followed by ongoing hospital stays and doctor’s appointments. Because of this, we have exhausted all paid leave.

After surgery, Wally was expected to be in the ICU for 24–48 hours but ended up there for 10 days due to complications. I stayed close to the hospital in a motel so I could be there for him, which added unexpected expenses. We have now been in the hospital for 19 days, and costs for food, lodging, and bills are piling up.

Wally will be off work for at least three months, and we’re unsure if he will have a job to return to. I am currently his caregiver and unable to work as well. With bills coming due again, we are running out of money quickly. Our battle is far from over the surgery left his kidneys struggling and now hes got to be on dialysis 3 days a week for the foreseeable future. His bodys struggling to heal and this has also left him needing oxygen around the clock. All this will keep him from work for a while.
