Hi everyone, my name is Beverley Winfield, and I’m raising money for a Best Friend Pet Adoption, specifically for medical care for Wallace.

When our foster dog Wallace arrived from the shelter, he was severely emaciated, depressed, and barely hanging on. At just 78 lbs (when he should be at least 120+) his body showed the effects of years of neglect and starvation. He had significant hair loss, painfully infected dry and cracked skin, severe eye and ear infections, and was even deaf due to the extent of the infection. Our vet believes Wallace was dangerously close to death.

Since coming into our care, Wallace has gained over 15 pounds and is now a much healthier 90 lbs, with more weight still to gain. His tail wags nonstop, his personality is shining through, and he’s finally enjoying life. One of the most emotional moments for us was watching him initiate play with our 2-year-old lab/pittie mix — a powerful reminder of just how far he’s come.

Sadly, we’ve now received difficult news. The biopsy on the large mass on Wallace’s elbow came back as a grade 3 soft tissue sarcoma — the most aggressive form. X-rays are needed to determine if the cancer has spread. If it hasn’t, surgery may be an option, though it comes with risks and will require close follow-up care. The mass is large and bleeding, but we believe Wallace deserves the chance to fight.

The estimated cost for surgery and post-op care is at least $1,200++. We’re raising funds to help cover this unexpected expense and support the rescue that has given Wallace a second chance. A donor has offered to match every dollar raised up to $500!! Wallace will remain with us throughout surgery and recovery, and we’ll continue to share updates along the way... Hopefully, he will be available to be adopted to a forever home once he is healed.

Wallace has already been badly let down once. With your help, we can give him the full, happy life he deserves. Any donation or share makes a huge difference. Thank you for being part of Wallace’s journey.
