Walker Colley's Journey to Health

This is Bridget and Josi - Mal's sister and sister-in-law, and we are writing this on behalf of their family during a time that no parent is ever prepared for.

Walker is 3 years old. He is playful, curious, and deeply loved by everyone who knows him. He loves anything automotive, including trains, trucks, and emergency vehicles. If there is something with wheels, he's on it and being a speed racer. He also loves his big sister, McKenzie.

Walker was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor and has already undergone surgery as part of his initial treatment. He is now beginning approximately 10 months of chemotherapy. His days will now be filled with hospital visits, treatments, and recovery, instead of the simple joys of being a carefree little boy.

What the next year will look like:
This is not a short season - it is nearly a full year of treatment. Walker’s parents, Mal and Nic, are stepping into an all-consuming role as caregivers. One of them will need to be with Walker through treatments, appointments, and hospital stays, which means a significant reduction in income. At the same time, they are doing everything they can to support Walker’s sister, McKenzie, and keep her world as stable and secure as possible.

The reality of this year includes:
-Frequent hospital visits and long treatment days
-Emotional and physical strain on the entire family
-Ongoing medical expenses, even with insurance
-Daily costs, such as food and gas - it all adds up week after week

This is a marathon, not a sprint, and the weight of it is both emotional and financial.

How you can help:
We are asking for financial support to help ease the burden on their family during this time. We want Nic and Mal to be able to focus fully on what matters most: Walker’s case and healing.

Your support will go toward:
-Medical and out-of-pocket expenses
-Lost income during treatment
-Food and gas
-Day-to-day needs for their family over the next 10 months

If you are not in a position to give, sharing this page is incredibly meaningful and helps us reach others who may be able to give support.

Nic and Mal are strong, loving parents doing everything they can for their children. Thank you for surrounding Walker and their family with support, generosity, and hope during this incredibly difficult time.

In addition to financial support, a meal train has been set up through Meal Train to help provide meals during treatment weeks. If you would prefer to support in that way, you can sign up here: Meal Train for the Colley Family
