My name is Meg Kennedy. I'm Walker's aunt, and I'm writing this because he never would. For the past six years, Walker — now 23 — put a hold on his life to care for his mom, Lisa. He put on hold his education, ability to hold down a job and facing own future. He sat with her through every doctor's visit, every hard night, and every quiet moment in between. When she passed peacefully on May 23, 2026, he was right there beside her — exactly where he'd always been.
Lisa cultivated deep and lasting friendships. Within a few moments, she was able to make a stranger feel like an old friend. As Walker put it: "She would enjoy going to a doctor's appointment. She'd be talking to someone in the waiting room, just finding a connection. She was willing to be a friend to anyone." But more than any degree or accomplishment, Lisa was a mother. Walker was the great joy of her life — and their bond was something truly special.
Because of those years of caregiving, Walker has no savings and no income. He is grieving deeply — and he is facing the costs of a funeral and burial he cannot afford alone.
Here's where your help goes: Funeral home and burial services, burial plot and grave marker, associated costs to lay Lisa to rest with the dignity she deserves. Any remaining funds will help Walker begin to get back on his feet.
If you can donate, please do. If you can't, please share this story. Getting the word out is just as meaningful as a gift. Either way, you're helping a son say a proper goodbye to a mother he loved deeply. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. — Posted with love by Meg Kennedy, Walker's aunt, on behalf of Walker and Lisa Kennedy
