Help waed determine her education and treatment to her mom

My name is waed Hassouna, a 22-year-old dental student currently living in a tent in Khan Younis. Life has not been easy for me and my mother since we were displaced from our home. The ongoing conflict forced us to leave everything behind, and now we find ourselves in a challenging situation, filled with uncertainty and longing for a brighter future.

Growing up, I always dreamed of becoming a dentist. I wanted to help people regain their smiles and boost their confidence. However, the circumstances we found ourselves in made it difficult for me to pursue my education. The instability in our lives, along with the pressing need to survive, meant that my dreams were put on hold.

My mother has been my rock throughout this difficult time. She works hard to provide for us, often sacrificing her own needs for my well-being. Despite the hardships, she has always encouraged me to keep striving for my goals, reminding me that education is the key to a better life.

Unfortunately, my father is not part of our lives anymore. He and my mother separated due to the strain of displacement, and we have lost contact with him. There are many unanswered questions about his whereabouts, but my mother and I have learned to focus on each other and the future.

Living in a tent is a daily reminder of the challenges we face. The lack of basic necessities, such as proper food and hygiene, weighs heavily on us. Yet, I refuse to give up on my dreams. I spend my days studying whenever I can, using borrowed books and resources from friends. I attend online classes when the internet allows, hoping to keep my education on track.

Despite the struggles, I remain hopeful. I believe that one day, I will be able to complete my dental studies and make a difference in my community. I dream of opening a dental clinic that provides affordable care to those who cannot afford it. I want to give back to the people who have supported me and offer them the smiles they deserve.

This journey is not just mine; it’s a story of resilience and determination shared by many young people like me. We may face obstacles, but with hope, hard work, and the support of those around us, we can achieve our dreams. I hold on to that hope every single day, believing that a better future is possible, no matter how difficult the present may be.
