Hello Neighbors:

Dozens, perhaps hundreds of seniors in our mobile home parks are worried they can't pay next month's rent. Rates have been raised up to 8.5% in our five parks due to inflation. The city's rent control ordinance allows only for CPI increases, and this year it's staggering.

Harbor House is our local social services agency, which finds housing for the unsheltered, and those about to become homeless. It also manages a rental assistance program, and here's where the seniors come in.

Struggling seniors will be able to contact Harbor House to apply for a grant, and staff will evaluate them based on income and need. The goal is to provide monthly assistance for the next 12 months.
