Who We Are

Welcome to VRJmusic! Since 2014, we have been at the forefront of the music streaming revolution in Cameroon, bringing together a merger of YouTube and Spotify business model, tailored specifically for the African entertainment industry. Our mission is to provide a dedicated platform that highlights both A-list and underground artists, ensuring that every musician has a chance to shine and earn a living from their craft.

What began as a passion has grown into an influential and significant contribution to the Cameroonian online music industry. Recognizing that over 90% of African countries share similar realities, my team and I have decided to launch a public crowdfunding campaign. This initiative will help us acquire the necessary logistics and human resources to expand our vision through https://www.vrjmusic.com across Cameroon and Africa as a whole.

Our Inspiration

The passion for the music industry and the glaring absence of an African-centric platform led to the creation of VRJmusic.

As music serves as a fundamental root of culture, shaping and defining behaviours, VRJmusic’s mission to promote African music is vital.

By supporting artists and other cultural content creators, VRJmusic aims to elevate African culture through music.

Over the years, we have collaborated with top Cameroonian artists such as Stanley Enow, Salatiel, Mr. Leo, and renowned recording labels like Empire Company, transforming the way consumers engage with music.

At its peak, VRJmusic generates an average of 15,000 visitors and covers more than 75% of music content in Cameroon, working closely with key industry stakeholders.

We are now seeking support to acquire the necessary logistics to implement monetization technology, own our proper servers amid the bulky content that would be generated, to enhance statistics recording, and officially launch the brand in Cameroon and another African country of our choice, among other initiatives.

Our Impact

VRJmusic has significantly shifted the landscape of music consumption in Cameroon. We played a pivotal role in transitioning users from platforms like SoundCloud to a more localized service. At our peak, we served 15,000 visitors per month, establishing ourselves as Cameroon’s #1 free music streaming service. Even with limited communication efforts, our brand remains recognized among key stakeholders in the Cameroonian music industry.

The Challenge

Despite our successes, financial constraints have hindered our ability to keep up with the competition and technological advancements. While platforms like YouTube and iTunes continue to dominate, we are struggling to maintain our growth and expand our services. Our goal is to reward music creators fairly based on the success of their work on our platform, but we need the resources to develop and execute this vision.
