Jamiyah Mayfield was a bright, loving 14-year-old girl whose beautiful smile and joyful spirit touched everyone around her. She loved to sing and dance, bringing light and happiness to her family and friends. Jamiyah was Vona Starks’ firstborn daughter and my firstborn granddaughter, and her loss has left a deep and painful void in the hearts of those who loved her most.
Tragically, Jamiyah’s life was cut short due to unimaginable abuse and neglect. She suffered in silence, locked away and mistreated by those who should have protected her. The circumstances of her passing have shaken our family and community to the core. We are devastated and struggling to come to terms with this heartbreaking loss.
