Help Von Blue Attend Mitchell’s Place

Please help our Von. Here are a few words from his mommies explaining their need:
Von Blue was diagnosed with autism, July of 2019 but his challenges started right before his first birthday. Von was born 8/19/16, a happy little boy. He made tons of eye contact, smiled and laughed non-stop, played with other kids, etc.
However, we noticed a huge change in him before his first birthday. We noticed him drifting away from eye contact and getting upset with certain sounds like when we sang “Happy Birthday” to him. He started flapping his hands, and was delayed on motor skills. Von didn’t start walking until 17 months old.
Von is now three and is non-verbal. He was going to a Mother’s Day Out program until very recently. The program told us he needed more one on one and sooner rather than later. Although difficult to hear, we agree.
So that same day, as caring parents, we dropped everything and went to tour three places across the Birmingham area. Only to find “insurance isn’t in network” “speech therapy isn’t covered” “ no scholarships are available “ “waiting lists are out until summer 2020” ... so many dead ends. The one place that we have found and seems the best for him will cost us around $1600 a month. (Over $19,000 a year)
For good care from special needs caregivers, ABA Therapy, Speech and OT therapy- Mitchell’s Place seems to be the best place for our boy.
We want the absolute best for Von Blue, and more than anything to hear him say “Mama or Mami”.
