Hi! We're Viviane, Raven, and Molly, three trans people from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Two of us are severely disabled and unable to work, while Viviane has been unable to secure better work after 3 years of constant applications. Raven does receive disability, but Molly does not as of yet. Viviane is a photographer working within the trans community and hoping to build up a career alongside the transgender population of Portland.
While anti-trans legislation in Pittsburgh has stayed mild so far, the amount of bills introduced shows a clear growing hostility. Additionally, a few gangs of people calling themselves Nazis have begun to make their way into various neighborhoods, beating and robbing POC and trans people. Finally, we're running from our current apartment, which we can no longer afford and serves as a health hazard. A giant hole has been left in the bedroom ceiling since December, and mold has developed above, with more leaks throughout the unit.
We're looking to move to Portland in August in search of a better, more fulfilling career, and the opportunity to live a better, safer, healthier life. Any help is greatly appreciated, and funds will go towards moving costs, deposits on an apartment, and stabilization as we move and begin work. We are working with the organization WERQ Together, who will be providing plane tickets. Thank you for helping us now so that we may come back to help others in the future.
