Help Vivi's Family Fight Kidney Disease

Dear Friends and Family, 


It is always hard to ask for help, but this is one of those times when we really need to rally around our loved ones. If you have ever met our young friend Vivienne, you understand I’m not exaggerating when I say she is the warmest child you could ever have the pleasure to know. Unfortunately, this past month has been extremely difficult on her and her family.


Just after she celebrated her 2nd birthday, Katie (mom) noticed Vivi’s eyes and belly were very swollen, so they rushed her to the ER. This sweet little girl, who we all personally love very much, has now been in and out of the hospital for the past six weeks with chronic kidney disease, blood clotting and seizures. She has a long road ahead of her, a list of medications, a lot of doctors and who knows what else.


For those of you who don’t know Katie, she has worked for decades as a nanny, caring for and nurturing children.  She has been an asset to many families. Unfortunately, our current economic system does not provide a support system for situations such as these, leaving families not only struggling with impossible health decisions but also with financial hardship as well.


Through all of this, Katie hasn’t been able to work because Vivienne is very immuno-compromised and needs a lot of care. Vivi’s condition requires careful monitoring, daily medications including Prednisone (for the kidneys), blood thinner injections (to prevent more brain clots and seizures), urine testing (kidneys), and a very salt-restricted diet (kidneys) - in addition to all the other food restrictions related to her severe nut allergies. As if that wasn't enough, now they need to be extra vigilant by self isolating with Covid-19 sweeping through the Pacific Northwest.


We are trying to raise $5,000 to help cover medical bills and expenses while mom can’t work. We want to give Vivienne the time and space to recover. We all know how hard it is to ask for help and that’s why a group of their friends is forming this account. Anything you can give will be so helpful.
