My name is Virginia Radcliffe. When the #MetToo movement started I was deeply dismayed that so many responses to the female victims' stories were: "why didn't they report this to law enforcement or other legal authorities at the time?"

Well, I did report.  Again and again. I called 911 when I was being stalked and assaulted. Then I obtained certified recordings of these calls and paid for verified transcripts of these calls. I filed incident reports for non-emergencies. I scrupulously kept copies of everything -- from photographs and lab reports of all damages to medical reports of all injuries and much more. For years.

And I was severely punished for doing this. My career, my ability to obtain any employment, my health, my house (has not been an actual home in 17 years) and even my ability to function in everyday life, friendships and activities I once found enjoyable -- all are in shambles. And it all started with one intoxicated male bully sexually harassing me and informing me that because I was a 40 something year old female, I didn't "deserve" to own a home in "his" neighborhood because he was an older man and he had two mortgages. He had made inquiries into my private financial business and he was enraged with envy by what he thought he found. He vowed to take my home away from me and to ruin my career as well so I would never again be able to afford any home anywhere. How dare I, a mere woman all by herself, own a home I bought with my own money?

Of course many men in power would agree with him, as seemingly did the local Sheriff and District Attorney where I live. They decided I needed to be arrested and put on criminal trial after I was felony assaulted with serious and permanent injuries but not the man who did the crime. I cannot even begin to explain the enormous harm this did to me. I have a small mountain of evidence, including eye witnesses and a verified (called "caused") investigation by an agency of the NC government, to corroborate the crimes and civil torts that were done to me. What the other side has -- repeating the mantra/slur "she's crazy" six hundred times to anyone who will listen. This is all too common -- it is known as gaslighting a victim of gender violence. Poison her entire landscaping and then claim she doesn't keep it up. Felony assault her and then file a police report that she isn't out mowing her lawn when she can't even walk because she has three broken ribs and needs surgery for a severed ACL you gave her. Bankrupt her with false criminal charges then complain her property looks like a mess. Repeat this ad nauseam for years and years.

And law enforcement? The Sheriff went on the front page of the local newspaper and called the well-orchestrated, methodical violence against me "a neighborhood squabble." Exactly what law enforcement at one time called, and may still call, domestic violence where women are beaten half to death.  A squabble.  A spat.  A tiff.  Not a crime. No, no no – nothing serious. Just everyday life for millions of women everywhere.

Not even the male hierarchy of a large Christian denomination would offer help -- instead they punished the victim of violent crimes even further by revoking my hard earned credentials as certified candidate for ordained ministry. So, yes, there is a huge backlash going on against women by old wealthy privileged white men. And the male power structure supports them and gives them complete impunity when they commit harassment or even violent crimes during this backlash. And a woman can lose a lot by standing up for herself by reporting criminal harassment and violence. Please help me if you can -- in any way that you might be able. Share your story if you have one. My sincere gratitude and thanks.

From PORT CITY DAILY  on July 1, 2019

NEW HANOVER COUNTY NC -- Nearly 20 years ago, a woman moved to a community on the IntraCoastal Waterway near Wilmington, preparing for a career in ministry. What followed, she claims, was escalating levels of harassment, some of it sexual, and then a physical assault — allegations her neighbors have denied. But her problems were just starting, as she found herself put on trial and then convicted when her lawyer inexplicably quit just before her hearing and a judge refused to allow a continuance. She was ultimately exonerated on appeal, but her arrest record has cost her dearly. This is the story, told from thousands of pages of court filings and affidavits, police notes, and other documents.
