Hospice Care Help

Our mom, Virginia, has been quietly and valiantly fighting stage 4 lung cancer for the last two and a half years. She has had countless tests, procedures, chemo treatments and radiation all in her quest to battle this insidious disease.

We learned recently the cancer has spread throughout her bones and her liver and the pain she endures daily is beyond what you can even imagine. This continued and significant metastasis has resulted in the end of treatments and the transition to hospice care at home.

It is an incredibly difficult time for all of us, but especially for mom. She puts on a smile and a brave face for her family every day but we can see the impact of this disease on our typically and extremely independent and active mom. She now requires the use of medical equipment to get out of the bed and to do the very minimal walking she can muster, when she can. She often cannot get out of the bed at all and needs dedicated help to do the most basic tasks.

This process has taught us a lot – but most especially how hard it is for someone to be properly cared for at the end of their life. Mom requires more consistent care than hospice or insurance will cover. We ask for any help you may be able to provide to allow us to privately hire around the clock clinical care so she can remain out of awful facilities and with those she loves.

Our mom has made her entire life about us – her family – and those she loves and has never asked for help along the way. We only seek to provide her the care, comfort, love and dignity she most certainly deserves as she finishes her life’s journey.
