Our daughter Violette is just three months old and has already shown incredible strength. Since January 27, she has been hospitalized and has spent time in four different hospitals—Marshall, UC Davis, Sutter Children’s Hospital, and Oakland. After getting sick, she was intubated and has not been able to come off a ventilator. Despite months of tests, procedures, and genetic screenings, all results have come back normal, and doctors still don’t know why she can’t breathe on her own. Now, Violette is scheduled for a tracheostomy, and her journey to recovery will be long and challenging. She will need 24/7 care and constant attention as we work to bring her home and figure out the best way to support her needs.
As a stay-at-home mom to three daughters—Charlotte (4), Juliette (3), and Violette—I am doing everything I can to keep our family strong. My husband has missed work to be by Violette’s side, and our family has been incredibly supportive, but the financial strain is overwhelming. The funds raised will help us cover home care, medical bills, nursing care, lost wages, travel to and from the hospital, and the equipment and supplies needed for Violette’s at-home ventilator support. We hope to get her back to UC Davis for recovery, which means more travel and time away from home. With Dad returning to work, I’ll be caring for Violette until we can find at-home nursing help, which is not easy to come by. Any extra help will make a world of difference as we navigate this difficult stage of life. We are deeply grateful for your kindness, support, and generosity.
