**Help Violet Robert Recover After Being Hit by a Distracted Driver**
I’m raising funds for my cousin, Violet Robert, who was seriously injured after being hit by a distracted driver in Nanaimo, BC.
Violet was crossing in lane 1 when one vehicle stopped to let her pass. A second driver in lane 2 failed to yield and struck her while on their phone. She was thrown a significant distance and suffered multiple injuries, including broken and fractured ribs, a head injury, road rash, and extensive bruising and cuts.
She is currently recovering and unable to work.
While some medical costs may be supported through existing benefits and Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, these supports do not cover her day-to-day living expenses while she heals.
Violet still has $2,060 in monthly rent, along with food, transportation to medical appointments, phone bills, and other essentials. During her recovery, she has no income.
She is also in the process of working toward reunification with her daughter, who is expected to be back in her care around June. Having stable housing and financial security during her recovery is an important part of ensuring she is able to meet that goal.
This has also taken a serious emotional toll. Violet is currently sober and had just secured stable housing. This traumatic event has put her at risk of relapse, and she is now facing both physical and mental recovery at the same time.
Despite the severity of the incident, no charges have been laid.

This will help cover approximately 3–4 months of essential living costs during her recovery period.
