Hello, my name is Vincent Batts. On January 18, 2020, I got the best news of my entire life that I was accepted to my dream school, the Georgia Institute of Technology. This was my dream school because I felt in my heart while interning on the campus for three years that it was my home. Even more so, I knew going there would allow me to accomplish the dreams I've had and meet the goals I've set for my life.
I want to ultimately own a national technological solutions company dedicated towards solving modern day problems for regular individuals decreasing the cost of life but increasing the quality of life through technology.
Although I was successful in high school, I faced a very difficult challenge which to this day is affecting my ability to pay for college. For me to stay at my school my parents had to expend more money to keep me at a home that was in my district because they knew my high school would afford me the spots at the top universities. In doing that, they had barely any money to contribute to my college and taking out a loan was more difficult than it originally appeared. I had poor luck with scholarships as well.
Nevertheless, I tried to honor my parents in the best way by obtaining a 3.9 unweighted GPA, becoming the first student in my school's history to be a finalist in the International Science Fair, the Technology Student Association President, a Beta Club and National Honor Society member and much more within school. To lighten their financial load as much as I could, I also worked at Office Depot for the past two years as a Technology Sales Consultant just to earn money to care for things that were in my control; gas for my car, food on the way home, dues for clubs and school field trips.
Since the original creation of this campaign I raised 6,270 dollars and that along with selling my car allowed me to take care of the first semester. I am just looking for help paying for the second semester, which will be the remaining amount on this campaign.
With your donation, the money would go towards paying off the rest of my tuition for the second semester and by then my friends and family will have helped me figure out a way to fund the rest of school.
My first semester went well seeing my attain a 3.2 GPA and obtaining nice part time jobs with the institution that help offset the cost a bit.
My balance for second semester is 9,500 which includes the following below (tuition is mostly taken care of through the Hope Scholarship)
- My Room and Board
-Tuition Not Taken Care of by HOPE
- My Meal Plan
- My Books for the year
