Help Our Sister Vina Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Hi everyone, our family is fundraising for our sister/daughter Devina (Vina for short). Vina is a single mom with 3 young children and the 4 of them are living in Temecula California.
This year Vina was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and had surgery back in March where they were able to remove their findings. At Vina’s 9 month scan she was delivered unfortunate news that her cancer was back but this time in her liver and it had progressed to stage 4. Vina had a port put in her chest in mid October and started chemo on 10/23/22 and will be on treatments for at least 8 months and than we will figure out her next steps.
Vina is unable to work during treatments for a couple different reasons, one being that the treatments have been making her feel really sick and by the time she starts to feel somewhat normal again it’s time for another round of treatments. Another reason being that her job is too risky to work during treatments. Her work has put her on unpaid leave until her treatments are over. Insurance is not covering many of her treatments. Our family is helping as much as we can but we are hoping to reach out to the community for extra hands during this time. Vina will be on treatments that is $800+ a month, holidays are coming, she has 3 kids to feed, her rent is over $2,000 a month for a small two bedroom apartment and she has to drive over an hour to get to her treatments 2 times every 2 weeks. Any help for Vina during this difficult time would be really appreciated.
• A little bit about Devina herself - First off, she is an INCREDIBLE mother. Sometimes I don’t know how she does all the things she does. Her kids are always her number one priority and she makes sure they feel loved every second of everyday. Her patience’s level is seriously unmatched.
Vina is always thinking positive and looking to see the brighter side of things. She’s always there for her family and friends without ever expecting a single thing in return. She never asks for anything from anyone and really all she cares about is quality time with her loved ones.
She graduated college with her PhD and that’s on top of juggling her 3 small kids and working full time. She was currently working as a recreation therapist for a mental health facility and a event planner before her treatments started. I don’t say this lightly when I say I have never met someone like Vina before.
Times are tough for pretty much the entire world right now. Any help anyone wants to send Vinas way would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read!
