Help Village Family Farms Restart Their Youth Summer Camp

On July 27, Village Family Farms and Teen Start, Inc. had to shut down their STEAM Agricultural Summer Camp when one of their sponsoring organizations lost their funding capacity due to unforeseen circumstances.
Village Family Farms is an urban farm located in the under-resourced community of Hough in East Cleveland, Ohio.
Over the past 2 months, the summer camp has been providing more than 20 youth, from 5 - 17 years old, with day-long educational and recreational programs each week. These programs serve to:
- Teach youth how to grow food using regenerative agricultural practices
- Deepen their knowledge in nutrition, soil health, and the connections between ecological and human health
- Provide experiences in nature through farming, forestry and conservation programs
- Engage youth in activities, games and sports that develop building blocks for wellness and success
The farm is partnering with five organizations to provide educational programs, funding and in-kind support for the summer camp. These organizations include:
- Case Western Reserve University
- Cleveland Department of Recreation
- Cleveland Botanical Gardens
- Western Reserve Land Conservancy
- Biodiversity for a Livable Climate
To continue the summer camp, the farm needs to raise a total of $26.360 to pay the instructors, provide stipends to the youth leaders, provide transportation for the youth to and from the camp's activities and field trips, purchase supplies, provide lunches and healthy snacks, and host an end-of-summer family event to celebrate the youth's participation and achievements
We already received a commitment from a foundation for $4,000 (not listed on this page), pending 2 matching donations. With this commitment, our fundraising goal is now $22,360. (Note: GoFundMe lists our fundraising goals in smaller, incremental amounts to build momentum).
